Lung diseases such as cancer, COPD, asthma and allergies are active areas of research using Exhaled Breath Condensate.  Nucleic acids, proteins and metabolites are measured as biomarkers.

Exhaled Breath Condensate is a true representation of the status of the lungs and compounds circulating through the body.  Pharmaceuticals, metabolites, and environmental toxins are measured in EBC.

Technology

Our proprietary VosCryo breath collection device works by condensing exhaled breath using a frozen sleeve.  Warm breath is condensed at the interface between the device and frozen sleeve ready to be collected or dispensed for testing. 

PCR is extremely sensitive, able to detect a single copy of DNA or RNA if it is present.  PCR is an excellent approach for research with Exhaled Breath Condensate to detect and quantify any nucleic acid of interest in the breath. 

Because of LAMP’s robust, rapid and sensitive detection, it is well suited to be paired with rapid Exhaled Breath Condensate collection.

Designing primers for LAMP and PCR requires careful attention to several factors.  VosBio has developed a method for predicting the most efficient primer sets by optimizing several parameters in parallel to identify the best primer candidates.
